Power of Words Breakfast – September 8, 2011

September 8, 2011 by People, Words & Change

PWC’s 2nd annual Power of Words Breakfast was an event to remember. A HUGE thank you goes out to our sponsors, the learners, volunteer tutors, PWC Board Members and staff, members of the community and friends of PWC, and the guest speakers. In all, PWC fed 120 people. We hope to see even more of you in 2012.

Master of Ceremonies CTV Sports Director Terry Marcotte led the way with charm and enthusiasm. The guest speakers – Mayor Jim Watson, author Brenda Chapman (Ottawa mystery writer for adults and young adults and former tutor with PWC), and retired Ottawa 67’s Coach and General Manager Brian Kilrea – were inspirational. Last, but not least, five PWC learners showed courage and humour in sharing their personal stories with the audience.

PWC launched its Make the Call for Literacy fundraising campaign, as well as our new video (by the same name) which features six learners who talk about their literacy journeys with People, Words & Change.
