Power of Words Breakfast – September 7, 2012

September 7, 2012 by People, Words & Change

PWC’s third annual Power of Words Breakfast celebrating the achievements of our literacy learners was an event to remember. A HUGE thank you goes out to our sponsors, the learners, volunteer tutors, PWC Board Members and staff, members of the community and friends of PWC, and the guest speakers. Over 120 people enjoyed a delicious breakfast catered by the Newport Restaurant. Master of Ceremonies CTV-Ottawa Sports Director Terry Marcotte led the way with charm and enthusiasm. The guest speakers – former NHL hockey star Doug Smith, recently retired CEO of the Ottawa Public Library Barbara Clubb, and Ottawa’s Chief of Police Charles Bordeleau – were inspirational. Last but not least, four PWC learners showed courage and humour in sharing their personal stories with the audience.
