Volunteer Appreciation Event – April 12th, 2016

April 12, 2016 by People, Words & Change

Our dedicated volunteer tutors are the reason why People, Words & Change is such a warm, inspiring, and unique place to learn. Our tutors and learners work and grow together, and it is this work and growth that change lives.

On April 12, we held our annual Volunteer Appreciation Event to honour PWC tutors. The evening started with refreshments and time for tutors to meet one another. We then celebrated their role in PWC’s success by inviting each of them to choose a gift donated by a local business.

Our special guest that evening, English Professor and Dancer/Choreographer, Jenn Macquarrie, then gave a captivating talk on the process of adapting literature to dance. She brought along a troupe of young and talented dancers, and we were treated to a performance of ballet and highland dance pieces adapted from the classic book The Wizard of Oz. A great time was had by all!
