Power of Words Breakfast – September 8th, 2016

September 8, 2016 by People, Words & Change

People, Words & Change celebrated International Literacy Day with the 7th annual Power of Words Breakfast. This inspiring event was held in the Unitarian Fellowship Hall at Heartwood House.

Our long-time and venerated emcee, CTV Sports Director Terry Marcotte, guided us through the morning’s events. We started off with the very talented Tony Turner singing his original composition, “Circle of Song.” This was followed by heartwarming and brave Now I Can! Success stories from three of our learners. Our special guest, Paul Dewar, then gave a motivating speech and made a call to action to spread literacy worldwide. The new and exciting feature this year was a book raffle of recent Canadian titles!

As always, there was a delicious, hot breakfast buffet, free books for learners, and newspapers and magazines for all who attended. Once again, it was an exhilarating morning and we look forward to hosting the 8th Power of Words Breakfast next year!
