People, Words & Change – 40th Anniversary Celebration!

November 6, 2018 by PWCUpdates

PWC’s  4oth Anniversary Celebration was a great success! The event started out with some opening remarks by Executive Director Dee Sullivan who gave a short account of why PWC exists and the people we help. CBC Radio One’s Doug Hempstead was our emcee and even though he had been up since 4 a.m. to do his traffic report, he kept us entertained and  on schedule! Phil Jenkins, who once graced the halls of PWC as its first coordinator, performed a song he originally wrote for PWC many years ago called Alphabet Soup, a PWC anthem he wrote many years ago, and then updated for our 40th. Kae McColl, a past PWC Executive Director, fittingly read the Proclamation awarded to PWC by Mayor Jim Watson and Yuk Yuk’s Ottawa comedian Don Kelly provided some family-friendly laughs!  Good Eats catered this event with their delicious nibbles, and Broadhead Bewing Company was on-site with their tasty craft beer. Our silent auction was a great success, as was our live auction of a VIA Rail trip generously donated by VIA Rail, and a job shadowing traffic report day with Doug Hempstead at CBC generously donated by him!

A huge thank you to our event sponsors: Iceberg Networks Corporation, Dykhuizen Foundation, Ottawa Special Events, SandBay Entertainment, and Broadhead Brewing Company. Special thanks to our silent auction sponsors:

Bel-Air Toyota, Datsun, El Camino, Elgin Beer Project, Flora Hall Brewing, Happy Goat Coffee, Elizabeth Hay, Doug Hempstead, Hey Sugar Candy Co., Jérôme Photographer, NAC, Ottawa Police Service, Ottawa Special Events, Scentimental Flowers & Gifts, Ruth Secunda, Spaceman Music, St. Louis Bar & Grill, The Lieutenant’s Pump, The Record Centre, The Stalk Market, VIA Rail, Yuk Yuk’s
