Code of Conduct for Staff, Volunteers, and Learners

Everyone involved with People, Words & Change (PWC) is expected to be courteous and respectful. This includes:

  • Keeping all information that we learn about each other private and confidential.
  • Attending scheduled appointments, tutoring sessions, and computer classes.
  • Calling to cancel or reschedule an appointment as soon as possible.
  • Taking good care of PWC books and returning them on time.
  • Being patient, considerate, and having a positive attitude towards each other.
  • Informing a PWC staff member if you are experiencing a problem with cockroaches, bed bugs or lice.

People, Words & Change is a non-profit, charitable organization providing opportunities for English-speaking adults in Ottawa to improve literacy, numeracy or basic computer skills which are essential to working, learning, and living. One-on-one tutoring is provided free of charge by volunteer tutors to meet the needs and goals of the learners.

Feedback on the manner in which PWC provides its services to people with disabilities, and any other services, is encouraged and appreciated.
